■Today's Words■　−学校の寮−

○dormitory　：　寮、寄宿舎

『I'd like to check into the dormitory, please.』−『Can I have your name, please.』
「寮にチェックインしたいのですが。」−「お名前は？」

○roommate　：　ルームメイト

『Let's see... O.K. Your room is 603. Your roommate has already checked in.』−『Oh, I can't wait to see her.』
「えーっと、お部屋は６０３号室ですね。ルームメイトはもうチェックインしてますよ。」−「わあ、早く会いたいです。」

○permanent　：　恒久的な、不変の

『Please fill out this form.』−『Sure. What's the difference between a mailing address and a permanent address?』
「この用紙に記入してください。」−「はい。メーリングアドレスとパーマネントアドレスの違いは何ですか？」


■Break Time■　−address−

皆さんは本日の表現でご紹介した『mailing address』と『permanent address』の違いはご存じですか？
前者の『mailing address』とは、言葉通り郵便物等を送ってほしい住所、いわゆる「現住所」の事を指し、『present address』なんて表現が用いられる場合もあります。
後者の『permanent address』とは、変わる事がない住所、いわゆる「本籍地」や「実家」の事を指すんですね。
