■Today's Words■　−列車・電車−

○depart　：　出発する、発車する

『Excuse me. What time does the next train depart?』
−『The next train departs at 1:00.』
「すみません。次の列車は何時発ですか？」
−「次の列車は１時に出ますよ。」

○hurry up　：　急ぐ

『Since the bus is late because of the traffic jam, we might as well take the train. If we hurry up, we can ride the next train.』
「バスは渋滞で遅れてるから、電車に乗ったほうがいいと思う。急げば次の電車に乗れるよ。」

○lean on　：　〜にもたれる

『The other day, a man leaned on me in a packed train. It made me mad.』
「この前、満員電車の中で男の人にもたれかかられて、すごく腹が立ったんだ。」


■Break Time■　−電車の種類−

「急行電車」は『express train』、各駅停車の「普通電車」は『local train』とあらわすのをご存知の方も多いのではないでしょうか。
ただ、上記の単語に不定冠詞を付ける場合には、『an express train』と『a local train』になるので注意が必要です。
他に「準急電車」を『Semi-express』、「特急電車」を『Special express』、「寝台車」を『Sleeping car』のように表現するんですよ。
