■Today's Words■　−習慣−

○invite　：　招く、招待する

『Karen, guess what! I just invited to my boss's house.』
「カレン、聞いてよ！上司のお宅に招待されたんだ。」

○custom　：　習慣、慣習

『How nice!』−『It's the custom to bring a small gift here in America, isn't it?』
「よかったね。」−「ここアメリカでは何かささやかな贈り物を持って行くんだよね。」

○along　：　連れて、伴って

『Oh, yes.』−『And is it all right to bring a friend along?』
「そうだね。」−「それと友達も一緒に連れて行っても大丈夫かな？」


■Break Time■　−手みやげ−

本日の表現では、招待を受けたときの手みやげに関する話題がありますが、実際にその手みやげを渡す場合に、皆さんならどういった言葉と共に渡されますか？
例えば、簡単に『This is for you.』だけでも十分ですが、『Here's something for you.』や『Before I forget, this is for you.』などの表現も使えますね。
