■Today's Words■　−思い出せない人の名前を聞く−

○what's-his(her)-name　：　何とかさん

『I saw what's-his-name today. Well, he was a captain of a baseball team.』
「今日、何とかさんと会ったんだ。えーと、野球部のキャプテンだった人だよ。」

○catch　：　受ける、つかむ

『Hum. Do you mean Kentaro? He was a captain in high school. He caught for the team, didn't he?』
「うーん、賢太郎の事？彼って高校の時にキャプテンだったよ。彼ってキャッチャーだったよね。」

○on the tip of one's tongue　：
　　　　　　　　　　　　　（のどまで出かかっているが）思い出せないで
『No, no. It's right on the tip of my tongue.』


■Break Time■　−度忘れ−

『forget』を利用して「忘れた」や、『remember』を利用して「思い出せない」という表現は、比較的簡単に作れると思いますが、「度忘れした」といった表現を皆さんならどのようにあらわしますか？
例えば『slip one's mind』「度忘れする」という表現を利用すれば、『The title of the book has slipped my mind.』「その本の名前を度忘れしちゃった。」のように表現できるんですよ。
